11 - 3-D Bunny Soap

Requirements:
250g pure glycerine soap any colour (From The Soap Barn)
1 laughing bunny mould (From The Soap Barn)

Method:
Gently melt the soap in a pot on the stove on a very low heat. Cut out both sides of the laughing bunny, leaving a 1/2 cm rim all the way around the edges. Cut a small half-moon (size of a 20 cent piece) out of the bottom (flat part) of one side of the bunny. Now put both sides together and sellotape all the way around the edges, leaving no gaps. Sellotape all the way around again, just to make sure. The bunny should be totally sealed, with the exception of the hole you cut out of the bottom. When your soap is quite cool pour it into the bunny through the hole you cut. Keep it upside down (in a cup) and leave it to cool and set. You can even put it in the freezer to set, at least one hour. When it is cold remove the sellotape and pop out your hot cross bun-ny. Soap yourself in good humour. The ears are great for getting into all those hard to reach places...between the toes and so forth.

Blue powder colouring (From The Soap Barn)
1 jar for packaging (From The Soap Barn)
Dried flowers - blue (From The Soap Barn)

Method:
Dissolve a TINY amount of blue colouring in the aqueous cream. (If you add too much colouring the bath crème will turn the bath water blue and you with it. Which basically means that if you make it too dark you'll have to give it to your mother-in-law. She looks good in blue, doesn't she?) Add ten drops of blueberry fragrance to the pastel blue aqueous cream. Add the liquid soap and the blueberry herb to the aqueous mixture and mix through well. Bottle the mixture and decorate the jar with the dried blue flowers and raffia.

This luxurious shaving soap costs you less than R7 to make (including the tin) and will easily be a high profit best seller for Father's day in June. 100g pink glycerine soap (From The Soap Barn)
100g purple glycerine soap (From The Soap Barn)

Method:

The orange is followed by the yellow, then the green, then the blue, then the pink and finally the purple. The layers won't separate so long as the bottom layer is still warm and rubbery. Be careful not to pour the next layer too soon because one layer will melt another and the colours will mix. Leave the cylinder with all the colours to set properly for about two hours. Remove the soap from the cylinder and cut into triangular cake slices. Cover each slice with glad wrap so your soaps don't sweat.

3 Teaspoons witchhazel (Soap Barn)
Fragrance oil (Soap Barn)
Powder colouring (Soap Barn)

Method:
In a large bowl mix together the baking soda and cornstarch and the citric acid. Put a handful of this mixture into a smaller bowl and add to it the sweet oil, coconut oil, colouring and fragrance oil. Mash this mixture well into a paste and then return it to the big bowl. Crumb the coloured paste into the dry mixture till they are one even mixture. Add three teaspoons of witchhazel and mix through fast. Remember the more liquid you add to the mixture the more fizz you lose. The mixture must be just damp enough to hold together in a clump if you squeeze it in your fist. To make a heart fizz bomb pack the mixture very tight into a mould and then release it onto a tray to set. Do not leave the bombs on wood or cardboard to set because they will absorb the oil from the bomb. To make a fizz ball heap the mixture high into both sides of a ball mould. Then bring the two sides together packing them tight against each other. Gently release one side of the mould and then the other. (Making double sided balls is tricky and takes lots of patience and practice. It is better to start with flat ones first until you are comfortable working with the mixture.) Cappuccino Fragrance (Soap Barn)
1 Soap Mould (Soap Barn)
Brown paper
Raffia (Soap Barn)
Coffee Beans

Method:
Gently melt your soap in the microwave or in a pot over a very low heat. When the soap is melted divide it in half. Take a tablespoon of melted soap from one half and add to it twenty drops of Ateco brown gel. Blend the colouring in the tablespoon of soap really well before you add it back into the half it came from. Stir through well so you have a smooth even brown soap mixture. Add twenty drops of cappuccino fragrance to the brown soap and twenty drops of vanilla fragrance to the white soap and stir through well. Pour the white vanilla soap into the moulds but only half filling them. Leave to set until the white soap feels like thick warm rubber. Now pour the brown cappuccino soap over the white soap and leave to set. It is really important that you get the timing right. 86 - Honeybush Soap Balls

Requirements:
500g Honeybush glycerine soap (Soap Barn)
1 Round ball mould (Soap Barn)

Method:
Cut both halves of the round out of the mould with a 1cm border around the edges. Then cut a small circle (5c piece) out the side of one of the rounds. Now stick both rounds together with sellotape. Apply sellotape all the way around the edges making sure there are no gaps. I like to stick three layers of sellotape around the edges, just to be sure. Your mould is now ready. You should have a round plastic ball, taped all the way around the edges with a small hole cut out of the one side. That hole is for pouring in the soap. Gently melt the soap in the microwave or in a pot over a low heat on the stove. Leave your soap to cool quite substantially. Place your mould in a cup or small bowl with the cut out hole facing upwards. Pout the soap into the mould through the cut out hole. If the soap is too hot it will melt and buckle your mould. When your mould is filled to the top leave it to set. The ball could take up to two hours to set. When the soap is cold and hard you can remove the sellotape from the edges and un-mould your ball. Note: All 3D soaps are moulded in this way.

94 - Cut Out Silky Christmas Soaps

Requirements:
250 g White glycerine soap (Soap Barn)
250 g Red glycerine soap (Soap Barn)
1Teaspoon lustre powder (Soap Barn)
1 Square soap mould (Soap Barn)
Christmas cookie cutters (Soap Barn)
Cellophane for wrapping (Soap Barn)
Raffia (Soap Barn)

Method:
Gently melt the white soap in the microwave or in a pot over a very low heat. Pour the melted white soap into the mould and leave about one hour to set. When the white soaps have set remove them from the moulds. Cut Christmas designs out of the centres of the soaps with your cookie cutters. Now position the cut out white designs in the middle of the empty moulds and press them down firmly so they stick to the bottom of the mould. Do the same with the other half of the soap (the part that is still square but has a design cut out of it). Gently melt the red soap in the microwave or in a pot over a very low heat. When the soap has melted you can add one teaspoon of lustre powder and mix through well. Now pour the silky red soap into the moulds. It goes around the white designs and also inside the white soaps where the design is cut out. This way you get matching pairs of soaps. (For example red bell in white soap / white bell in red soap). You can wrap matching pairs of soaps together in cellophane and tie with raffia. These soaps make awesome Christmas gifts.
