Easter Fizz for your Bath - Recipe 19
![](recipes13/1319b.jpg)
Requirements:
1kg Fizz-Bop (Soap Barn)
Ocean Mist Fragrance (Soap Barn)
Blue powder dye (Soap Barn)
Round cookie cutter (Chocolate Den)
Yellow rubber duck (Soap Barn – limited stock item)
Bath Fizz sticker (Soap Barn)
Cellophane (Chocolate Den)
Method:
Heat your Fizz-Bop in the microwave for 1 minute to soften it. Then mix your dye with your fragrance (as much as you like).
Add that mixture to the crumbly Fizz Bop. Mix through well. I like to use plastic gloves when using the dye because it is
very concentrated. Use the powder dye if you want your Fizz Bop to colour the water. Use powder colour (as opposed to dye)
if you don't want your water to change colour. Pack your Fizz Bop into a tight 2cm block on the counter and then cut round
shapes out with your cookie cutter. I found that in the current hot climate I needed to put my Fizz Bops into the fridge to
set quickly. In winter you won't have to do that. Wrap your round blue ponds in cellophane. Hold your hairdryer over the
cellophane to shrink it so you have a lovely neat finish. Place a Bath Fizz sticker on the side and put some double sided
tape on the bottom of your yellow rubber duck. Stick your duck on top. Once you have settled into your bath, drop the blue
fizzing pond and the duck into the water for the best fun bath you ever had - fizzing blue ocean mist water shared with a
rubber duck! Fizz-Bop will soften the water, soften your skin, refresh and revitalise your skin and nourish it with
gorgeous oils.

Soapy Play Dough for the Bath this Easter - Recipe 20
![](recipes13/1320a.jpg)
Requirements:
1kg Soap-Doh (Soap Barn)
Assorted powder dyes (Soap Barn)
Assorted fragrances (Soap Barn)
Easter egg moulds (Soap Barn and Chocolate Den)
Soap-Doh stickers (Soap Barn)
Download label
here
Method:
Cut your egg moulds out with a half cm border around the edge. Divide your Soap-Doh into separate parts for all the colours
you would like to make. Colour each part with powder dye (this is very concentrated and you will achieve excellent results
with it – I recommend you use plastic gloves while mixing in the colours or you will have coloured hands the whole day!)
Fragrance each coloured Soap-Doh with a matching fragrance. I like to mix my colour into the fragrance first and then mix
it through the Soap-Doh. It seems to work better that way. Fill each half egg with one colour Soap-Doh. Make sure you
fill it right to the top (full full full) so that there is not place for air. Air will dry out your product. Close the back
of each half egg with broad sellotape – which will adhere to the edges of the mould. You can stick two half eggs together
with double sided tape. Package the eggs in cellophane or in boxes or even loose. Using Soap-Doh: This product is a play
dough for bath time. It is soft, smooth and gentle on the skin. It is a mild soap and will wash children as they play with
it. This is an all time bath favourite with children.

Soaps with Fresh Roses for Mothers' Day - Recipe 23
![](recipes13/1323b.jpg)
Requirements:
1 Bucket Farmhouse Soap (Soap Barn)
1 Bunch Fresh Roses
Organza Ribbon to match the Roses
Large Pyramid PVC boxes (Soap Barn)
Method:
Un-mould the soap out of the bucket and slice it so you have 3-4 thick round soap discs. Divide those discs in half and half again
so you have 12-16 soap hand cut soap chunks. Cut the fresh roses off their stems leaving 1/2cm. Make a hole in the middle of
each soap chunk with a kebab stick. Insert the fresh rose. The rose will remain fresh for about one day. After that it will
dry beautifully in your soap. This means you can either present your soap when the rose is fresh or later when it has dried.
Package the soap in a large pyramid box. These gorgeous soaps make for wonderful corporate gifts on Mothers' Day. All the
ladies at your workplace deserve a lovely gift on Mothers' day.

Soaps with Dried Roses for Mothers' Day - Recipe 24
![](recipes13/1324b.jpg)
Requirements:
1 Bucket Farmhouse Soap (Soap Barn)
1 Bunch Dried Roses
Dried herbs and flowers (Soap Barn
Small Pyramid PVC boxes (Soap Barn)
Method:
Un-mould the soap out of the bucket and slice it so you have 3-4 thick round soap discs. Cut the sides off the discs so you have
3-4 thick square soaps. Divide those squares in half and half again so you have 12-16 soap hand cut soap chunks.
Cut the dried roses off their stems leaving 1/2cm. Roll the sides in dried herbs or flowers. I used lavender, marigold,
hibiscus, lemongrass, rosemary, rooibos and jasmine. Make a hole in the middle of each soap chunk with a kebab stick.
Insert the dried rose. Package the soap in a small pyramid box. These gorgeous soaps make for wonderful corporate gifts
on Mothers' Day. All the ladies at your workplace deserve a lovely gift on Mothers' day.
Drying your roses:
I used two methods when drying the roses for these soaps. The first ones I dried by cutting the roses off the stems, leaving
about 10cm stems. I removed all the leaves. Then I tied the rose stems together and I strung them up, hanging them upside
down to dry. It took 10 days for them to be perfectly dry. They kept their shape and their colour. The second batch I dried
by cutting the roses off the stems leaving only 1cm stems. I then stood them upright, using chicken wire over a container.
It took 10 days for them to be perfectly dry. They kept their shape and their colour. Both methods had the same perfect
results. So use which ever one suits you best. I posted the process of drying (day by day) on my facebook page - so you
can see it there in pics.
![](recipes13/1324d.jpg)
![](recipes13/1324g.jpg)
You can cut your big squares into two large triangles (instead of four small squares) and make these,
or if you like glitter, you can roll the sides of your soaps in glitter rather than dried flowers or herbs.

Soaps with Soap Roses for Mothers' Day - Recipe 25
![](recipes13/1325.jpg)
There are two methods for making roses out of soap. One is by cutting the soap using a cookie cutter and the other is by
folding the soap as you would fold a ribbon rose. On my website you can watch a live video of making soap roses using the
cookie cutter method. Or you can click
here to view
For folding the soap like you would fold a ribbon rose you can see step by step pics on my website in 'Recipe Archives 2009'
or you can click
here
One important thing to note: if you are using Farmhouse Soap to make your roses you need to add 50% boiled water to your
melted soap (1/2 cup boiled water to 1 cup melted soap) and if you are using glycerine soap to make your roses you need to
use 50% flexine (from The Soap Barn) to make your roses.
Requirements:
1 Bucket Farmhouse Soap (Soap Barn)
Soap Roses that you have made yourself
Organza ribbon (Soap Barn)
Method:
Un-mould the soap out of the bucket and slice it so you have 4 thick round soap discs. Cut the sides off the discs so you
have 4 thick square soaps. Pour some melted soap onto the square soap and QUICKLY place your soap rose on top. Put some
matching organza ribbon around the sides of the rose. These gorgeous soaps make for wonderful corporate gifts on Mothers'
Day. All the ladies at your workplace deserve a lovely gift on Mothers' day. I think your mom would love a box of these
soaps from you on Mothers' Day.

Soap Roses that you have made yourself
Organza Ribbon (Soap Barn)
Vase or Container
Dried rose stems with leaves
Fairy Hair (Soap Barn)
Natural Flower Fillers, eg Babies Breath
Method:
One day after you have made your soap roses they will be ready to attach to a dried rose step. They will be hard enough to
hold their shape but soft enough to have the stem inserted. When the soaps have dried properly after about four days you can
put them in an arrangement in a vase or container. They will make a gorgeous gift for your Mother on Mothers' Day.

thick slice - I used a cookie cutter and a knife. Put some cellophane around the sides of your small discs. Make three
holes in the top of each disc and insert a dried rose stem in each hole. Wrap the label around the disc. Stick it at an
angle so that it is narrow at the bottom and wider at the top, sort of bucket shaped. That way the soap will drop into the

Method:
Gently melt your soap in a pot on the stove or in the microwave. The cooler you melt your soap the better. Once melted,
leave the soap to cool till it forms a thick skin on top. Then you know it is a good pouring temperature. Pour the soap
into the mould right to the top. Spray the top with spraying alcohol to pop the bubbles. Leave for two hours to set.
I like to leave my soaps for a couple of days to dry out before I wrap them. Then cover them in green chocolate foil and
download the wrapper from the website. These soaps look, smell and feel DELICIOUS! This soap is also 100% natural and can
be used on even the most sensitive of skins for excellent results.

Choc-Mint 100% Natural Bath Salt Balls - Recipe 33
![](recipes13/1333b.jpg)
Requirements:
2 cups coarse salt (Soap Barn)
50ml Guar Gum (Soap Barn)
100ml hot water (from the kettle)
Chocolate fragrance (Soap Barn)
Spearmint fragrance (Soap Barn)
Brown mica colouring (Soap Barn)
Dried mint leaves (Soap Barn)
Ball mould (Soap Barn)
Cellophane for wrapping (Chocolate Den)
Bath salt stickers (Soap Barn)
Method:
Prepare by cutting the circle cavities out of your mould with a 1cm border around the edges. Mix the coarse salt and the
guar gum together in a bowl. Add your colour, your fragrance and your dried leaves or flowers. Colour and dried leaves
are optional - but fragrance is essential! When those are all mixed through add 100ml hot (not boiling) water from your
kettle and mix through well, till you have a wet, sticky mixture. Fill each side of the ball mould with the mixture, piling
it high on top - in other words overfill each side substantially. Then place the two sides of the ball together and compress.
Remove the mould from the ball and place the ball on a tray to set. It will require two days to set really hard. The most
important thing to get right when you make bath salt balls is overfilling the moulds. When the two sides come together you
need lots of extra salt to get a really hard and compact ball. When the balls are dry you can either sell them unwrapped or
you can wrap them in cellophane. Hold your hairdryer over the cellophane and it will shrink wrap around the ball - excellent,
professional results.
Why I love Bath Salt Balls: Because firstly there are no other bath salt balls on the market , other than the ones you are
going to make. This means you have a unique product. They are really cheap to make, they cost less than R1.00 to make and
they are really easy to make. Each mixture makes 7.5 balls (plum size). I believe they are going to be fabulous sellers.
Fill a huge bowl with bath salt balls in a variety of colours and fragrances. You can easily sell them at R5.00 each and make
yourself some good money.
Bath Salt Balls are used the same way as normal bath salts. Thow a ball into the bath and relax in the hot water while the
salts soothe your aching muscles. Another 100% natural recipe for you - from The Soap Barn

100% Natural Laundry Detergent - Recipe 34
![](recipes13/1334.jpg)
Requirements:
2 cups washing soda (The Soap Barn)
2 cups borax ( The Soap Barn)
1 cup grated castile soap (The Soap Barn)
OR
1 cup powdered palm oil soap noodles (The Soap Barn)
1lt Bottle (The Soap Barn)

Method:
Mix all ingredients together well. Then add your essential oils - as little or as much as you like. Pack and store.
Use 1/2 cup powder with each load. I made two batches: One with grated castile soap and one with palm oil soap noodles.
I have to say I was very impressed with both but I was exceptionally impressed with the palm oil noodle batch. The palm
oil noodles are 100% pure, saponified palm oil. Just like the castile is 100% pure saponified olive oil. Both work well
but the advantage of the palm oil noodles is price. I put the noodles in a packet and I stood on them to crush them.
Then I squashed them through a sieve and I got a lovely fine powder soap out of them.
Try both options and see which one you like best.

100% Natural Laundry Softener - Recipe 35
![](recipes13/1335.jpg)
Requirements:
White spirit vinegar (from your local supermarket)
Ethanol /Spraying alcohol (The Soap Barn)
1lt Bottle (The Soap Barn)
Essential oils of your liking: Lemon, Orange, Pink Grapefruit, Tangerine, Bergamot (The Soap Barn)
Download label
here or
here
Method:
Mix your essential oils in a teaspoon of alcohol to emulsify them. This makes them water soluble so they will mix in
perfectly with your vinegar. If you don't do this the oils will float on top of the vinegar which may result in oil
stains on your clothes when you use your softener. Add the teaspoon of emulsified essential oils into the vinegar.
I used orange essential oil and bergamot essential oil in all my recipes because I love that blend so much. Bottle and store.
Use in the same way as commercial softener. Fill your softener dish with your fragranced vinegar. You won't believe how
brilliantly it works. The vinegar softens the clothes and breaks down the soap build up in your machine. It is also
excellent in preventing static. You clothes will feel and smell gorgeous. The advantage of using your own natural and
homemade softner is not only about price. Laundry softeners are one of the most allergenic detergent products we use
in our homes and avoiding them can only be good for your clothes and your good health.

Soap Candies - Liquorice AllSorts - Recipe 46

Requirements:
Flat metal tray
White bubblegum Farmhouse soap (Soap Barn)
Black glycerine soap (Soap Barn)
Soap colours (Soap Barn)
Cellophane bags for packaging (Chocolate Den)
Soap stickers (Soap Barn)
Method:
Melt your white soap gently in the microwave or in a pot on the stove. Separate it out in five parts and colour each
part a different colour. Pour a thin layer of coloured soap and leave it to set. When it is warm but set pour a thin
layer of hot black soap over the first layer. Leave that layer to set and then pour a hot layer of the original colour
over the black layer. This is very important: If the second and third layers are not hot enough to melt the layer
underneath a little then they will not stick. Your layers will separate when you cut up the soaps. So make sure that
you are pouring hot soap over the first layer and hot soap over the second layer. Un-mould the soap out of the tray
when it has set and then cut your soaps into small squares for normal liquorice allsorts or into very small squares for
mini liquorice allsorts. Remember to put soap stickers on all your soap candies. This is to let everyone know that although
they look exactly like the real thing, they are in fact soaps and not edible.

Sand and Ice Lantern - Recipe 55

Requirements:
Candle wax (The Soap Barn)
Candle wick (The Soap Barn)
Gold powder colouring (The Soap Barn)
Big bucket
Smaller bucket
Sand
Ice
White tapered candles
Method Step-by-Step:
Fill your big bucket with soft river sand. I bought a big bag at the toy shop. Stuff they use for children't sandpits.
Press your smaller bucket (or any other container) into the sand in the big bucket. This is the shape your candle will be.
So you can choose any shape depending on the container you press in.
Put your wax in a pot on the stove (never the microwave!) and melt it gently.
![](recipes13/1355b.jpg)
Remove your smaller bucket and you will find your chosen shape pressed into the sand
![](recipes13/1355c.jpg)
Now place your white tapered candle (from any supermarket) into the middle of the sand shape. Push it in a way so it holds
in postion well.
![](recipes13/1355d.jpg)
Fill the sand shape around the tapered candle with ice cubes
![](recipes13/1355e.jpg)
Pour your melted wax over the ice so that it fills the entire sand shape
![](recipes13/1355f.jpg)
When your wax has set and hardened remove the candle from the sand and place it in your basin. The ice will continue to melt for
some time and the candle needs to stand in a safe place while all the water runs off. Cut off the piece of candle sticking out
the bottom of your ice lantern. Also cut down the tapered candle. Dust your candle in gold powder colouring and light it.
![](recipes13/1355g.jpg)

Floating Rose Candles - Recipe 56
![](recipes13/1356.jpg)
Requirements:
Candle wax (The Soap Barn)
Candle wick - pre-waxed with sustainer (The Soap Barn)
Rose mould (The Soap Barn)
Oil colours (The Soap Barn)
Long thin nail or metal knitting needle
Empty tin
Method:
Gently melt the candle wax in a pot on the stove. Once melted leave it to cool till it starts looking less like water and
more like milk. But don't over do the waiting because it will set. You need to let it cool to pour into the mould.
Once you have tried this you will know exactly what I mean. Pour the cool wax into the mould and leave it to set. When it
has set it will fall out of the mould with great ease. So make sure you unmould the roses over a table so they don't fall
on the floor and break. Heat your long thin nail or knitting needle over the stove. Pick it up with oven gloves and make
holes directly through the middle of the roses. Thread your wick through the hole. The sustainer will keep it in place.
Pour melted wax into a tin and colour it with candle/oil colouring. Hold the rose by the wick and dip it once or twice into
the coloured wax in the tin. You can decorate the dipped roses with melted wax of different colours. Your floating roses
will make a lovely centerpiece for your table when you have guests.

Water Candles - Recipe 58
![](recipes13/1358.jpg)
Requirements:
Candle wax (The Soap Barn)
Big bucket
White tapered candles
Method:
This candle takes a little practice. The ones you see in the pic above are my third and fourth attempt. The first two
attempts were about learning the technique. Fill a deep bucket with cold water. Gently melt your wax in a pot on the
stove - NOT in the microwave. Hold your tapered candle so the bottom is submerged into the water about 4cm. Pour some
melted wax into the bucket of water and allow it to settle around the bottom of the candle. You can slowly twist the candle
while this happens. Stand there about 20 seconds while the wax sets and sticks to the tapered candle. Now lower the candle
a little more and pour in more melted wax. Slowly turn the candle and let the wax set around it. Keep doing this till
you reach the top of the candle. Don't try to do too much at a time and don't twist your candle too fast or too much.
I found that quiet, gentle patience worked best while making this candle. Do little bit by little bit and you will get
the best results. These are great fun to make and of course they are unique, each one different. Of course they will
make glorious centre piece candles for your dinner table.

![](recipes13/1360.jpg)
Requirements:
Candle wax (The Soap Barn)
Candle wick (The Soap Barn)
Apple mould (The Soap Barn)
Pear mould (The Soap Barn)
Oil colours (The Soap Barn)
Long thin nail or metal knitting needle
Empty tin
Bulldog clips (The Chocolate Den)
Empty tin
Method:
Firstly cut out your moulds with about 1cm border around the edges. Make a small hole (10c piece size) in the leaf at the
top of one side. Take a long piece of wick and position it in the middle of the two moulds when you clip them together with
bulldog clips. Gently melt the candle wax in a pot on the stove. Once melted leave it to cool till it starts looking less
like water and more like milk. But don't over do the waiting because it will set. You need to let it cool to pour into
the mould. Once you have tried this you will know exactly what I mean. Pour the cool wax into the mould though the small
hole you made on top in the leaf and leave it to set. When it has set it will come out of the mould with great ease.
Release the bulldog clips and pop your candle out. Pour melted wax into a tin and colour it with candle/oil colouring.
Hold the apple/pear by the wick and dip it once or twice into the coloured wax in the tin. You can decorate the dipped
fruit with melted green wax on the leaves. A bowl of candle fruit will look stunning on your table when you have guests.

Chocolate fragrance (Soap Barn)
Orange liquid soap colouring (Soap Barn)

Method:
Melt your Body Butter Base in the microwave for 3-4 minutes. When it is melted and pour it into a pot on the stove over
a low heat. Run your hot water tap till the water reaches bath water temperature. Fill your empty 500ml jar with water
and add that to the melted Body Butter Base. You can fill it 3-4 times (ie 1.5lt - 2lt) with water to get a good body
butter consistency. In the recipe above I used 3 x 500ml water. After you have added the water remove the pot from the
stove. You can now add your colour and fragrance. Do not overdo the colour because you don't want to stain anybody's
skin. Add as much fragrance as you like. Leave the mixture to cool and stir through every few minutes. When the mixture
is cool you can beat it with a small electric handbeater to get a thick, smooth consistency. Fill your jars and share with
everyone you love because this is a very special body butter.
